A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
Valagro, a leading producer of biostimulants and nutritional specialties for plants, wanted to improve sustainability while reducing reliance on the less reliable national grid at its Atessa, Italy facility. The company needed a low-emission onsite heat and power solution that could also cut micro-interruptions and blackouts; Capstone Green Energy’s microturbine technology was selected for the project.
Capstone Green Energy, working through dealer IBT Group, installed a CHP microgrid based on two Capstone C200 microturbines, rotating UPS, and supporting gas burner systems. The system now delivers prime power and useful heat for Valagro’s operations, producing about €230,000 in annual savings, 4,200 MWh of energy savings per year, and around 1,000 tonnes of CO2 avoided, while also reducing production losses from power outages.
