A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
U.S. Large Oil and Gas Producer needed reliable onsite power for a new central gathering facility in the remote San Juan Basin of New Mexico, where no utility power was available and conditions ranged from subzero temperatures to 110°F. Capstone Green Energy provided a power solution using Capstone C65 microturbines fueled by wellhead natural gas to support 24 x 7 x 365 operations for critical equipment at the site.
Capstone Green Energy installed eight C65 microturbines, more than the site originally required, to create redundant, high-output power with built-in reserve capacity and uninterrupted operation during maintenance. The system has delivered a near-unblemished 99% runtime since commissioning in 2015, with output ranging from 150–275 kW depending on demand, while also helping reduce emissions, ease permitting, and lower total cost of ownership versus reciprocating engines.
