Trolza - Customer Case Study

Trolza, a Russian public transportation manufacturer, needed a cleaner, more economical way to power urban buses that could handle growing transportation demand without sacrificing maneuverability or passenger comfort. To address this challenge, Trolza worked with Capstone Green Energy and its C65 Capstone Microturbine for the ECObus-5250, Russia’s first eco-friendly hybrid bus.

Capstone Green Energy’s microturbine-powered hybrid solution allowed the ECObus to run on batteries recharged by onboard natural gas-fueled microturbines, delivering quiet, efficient operation and reduced maintenance. The result was fuel consumption up to 40% lower, fuel efficiency 40–80% higher than conventional drivetrain vehicles, service costs up to 70% lower, and emissions 12 times less than traditional diesel buses while still meeting Euro-4 standards.
