A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
Tinamar Textile SA, a textile dyeing and fabric finishing plant in Barcelos, Portugal, needed to expand production without relying on costly and unreliable utility power. Capstone Green Energy, working through distributor Micropower Europe, provided a distributed energy solution centered on a Capstone C600S microturbine CHP system to help the plant gain energy independence and support higher load demands.
Capstone Green Energy’s solution used a five-bay C600 Signature Series microturbine with three 200 kW engines to generate on-site electricity and capture exhaust heat for steam production. The system produces about 3,600 MWh of power annually, delivers overall efficiency above 75%, and saves nearly 2,000 MWh of fuel each year. The project is expected to pay back in 5.5 years with an IRR of more than 15%, while also reducing emissions equivalent to removing 260 cars from the road.
