The Logan Philadelphia Hotel - Customer Case Study

The Logan Philadelphia Hotel, a five-star luxury hotel in downtown Philadelphia, needed a way to control its high energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its large demand for steam and electricity. The hotel turned to Capstone Green Energy, working with distributor E-Finity Distributed Generation, to support an onsite natural gas-powered energy solution.

Capstone Green Energy installed a combined heat and power system using three C65 ICHP natural-gas microturbines on the hotel roof. The system generates 195 kW of electricity, supplies 100% of the hotel’s domestic hot water and 15% of its heating needs, and has delivered more than 85,000 runtime hours with 99.8% uptime. The project produced a 4.2-year ROI, reduced purchased power costs by about 30%, and avoids 425 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.
