Tahoe Center for Environmental Studies - Customer Case Study

The Tahoe Center for Environmental Studies (TCES), owned by Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe, California, set out to build a facility to the highest environmental standards and pursue LEED certification with a goal of achieving platinum status. To support the building’s efficiency and sustainability goals, TCES worked with Capstone Green Energy and incorporated a Capstone C30 microturbine into the project.

Capstone Green Energy’s C30 microturbine was integrated with a heat exchanger to generate electricity and hot water for building heating, helping the center optimize overall energy performance. The system operated at 6,300 feet above sea level and contributed to the Tahoe Center for Environmental Studies achieving LEED certification, demonstrating a successful clean-energy solution with measurable impact on building efficiency.
