St. Joseph Hospital - Customer Case Study

St. Joseph Hospital in Prüm, Germany, wanted a more efficient and cost-effective way to replace its 60-year-old boiler system while supporting its healthcare operations. The hospital chose Capstone Green Energy and its C65 microturbine for a combined heat and power (CHP) application to improve energy performance and reduce operating costs.

Capstone Green Energy installed one Capstone C65 microturbine with a 126kW heat exchanger to capture waste heat and supply both electricity and hot water. The system achieved 85% total efficiency, cut energy use by 30%, saved the hospital about €22,500 annually, reduced CO2 emissions by more than 100 metric tons per year, and required only about eight hours of maintenance annually.
