Ski Resort at Sport Center Igora in the Leningrad region near St. Petersburg, Russia needed a reliable, off-grid power and heat solution for its remote location, where connecting to the utility grid would be difficult and uneconomical. Capstone Green Energy provided a microturbine-based combined heat and power system using 30 Capstone C60 and 8 C65 microturbines.

Capstone Green Energy’s solution supplies all of the resort’s electricity and more than 4MW of thermal energy for hot water and building heat, while also powering ski lifts, hotels, cottages, restaurants, and nighttime slope lighting. The 2.32MW system has delivered 100% reliability since commissioning and requires maintenance only twice a year, giving the resort low-operating-cost, fuel-flexible, and environmentally friendly power.
