Santa Cruz County Jail - Customer Case Study

Santa Cruz County Jail, a public facility in Santa Cruz, California, needed a way to reduce its high PG&E energy costs while working within the constraints of a dense rooftop installation. Capstone Green Energy provided a microturbine cogeneration solution, using rooftop-mounted C60 ICHP units to fit the site’s space and operational requirements.

Capstone Green Energy installed two C60 ICHP microturbines to supply both electricity and heating for the jail. The system’s compact size, quiet operation, and vibration-free design made it suitable for the rooftop location, while its clean operation avoided oil leaks and other hazmats common to conventional generators, helping the county jail lock down excess utility costs.
