A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
Salumificio Fratelli Coati, a major meat processing company in Valpolicella, Italy, needed a more efficient and reliable way to power its production site. The company wanted to improve energy efficiency and better support the constant electricity, steam, hot water, and freezing water demands of its operations. Capstone Green Energy provided the technology through a Capstone C1000 Signature Series Microturbine and absorption chiller system.
Capstone Green Energy implemented a natural gas-fired combined cooling, heat, and power (CCHP) system that maximized exhaust heat recovery to generate steam, freezing water, and hot water on site. The solution delivered about 80% overall energy efficiency, 600 kW of freezing water capacity, 3 tons per hour of steam, and roughly 8,400 operating hours annually. It also produced annual savings of about 9,600 MWh and €714,000, reduced emissions by 2,400 tonnes of CO2, and is expected to deliver a return on investment in roughly 3 years.
