Ronald Reagan Presidential Library - Customer Case Study

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, needed an energy system that could reliably power and cool its 100,000-square-foot facility while minimizing its environmental footprint. Working with Capstone Green Energy, the library sought a cleaner, more efficient alternative to traditional power and HVAC systems for its campus and Air Force One Pavilion.

Capstone Green Energy installed 16 natural-gas C60 microturbines in three UTC PureComfort packages plus four standalone units, creating a combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system with absorption chillers. The solution provides 960 kW of electricity and 387 tons of refrigeration, supplying about 95% of the library’s energy needs with 24/7 availability and only routine filter changes, while delivering cleaner, fuel-flexible operation and reduced carbon impact.
