Revico Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cognac, France, needed a cleaner, more efficient way to manage the methane-rich vinasse produced by local cognac distilleries. To address the environmental and energy challenge, Revico worked with Capstone Green Energy and its distributor Verdesis to evaluate a replacement for the onsite boiler system, using a combined heat and power (CHP) solution centered on a Capstone C800 microturbine.

Capstone Green Energy installed a methane-fueled C800 Power Package with a heat recovery module to convert digester gas into electricity and thermal energy for Revico’s four anaerobic digesters. The system generates about 3,000 MWh of electricity and 4,000 MWh of heat annually, reaches over 80% efficiency, and achieves about 97% availability. It also supports greenhouse heating and enables Revico to sell surplus power to EDF, generating an estimated €400,000–€500,000 per year.
