OfficePower - Customer Case Study

OfficePower, a Connecticut-based company serving multi-tenant office building owners, needed a way to improve energy independence, reliability, and cost competitiveness for its Manhattan property at 1350 Avenue of the Americas. To address the challenge, OfficePower worked with Capstone Green Energy and its natural-gas microturbine combined heat and power technology.

Capstone Green Energy installed 12 C65 High Pressure Dual Mode ICHP microturbines with heat recovery modules, creating a 780 kW onsite power plant that supplies about 35% of the building’s daily electricity and up to 80% of its heating needs. The system has delivered 99.8% availability, cuts the building’s CO2 footprint in half or better, and can switch near-seamlessly to back-up power during grid events, while keeping total power costs no higher than staying fully tied to the grid.
