A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
National Real Estate Development, the developer behind 1199 Ludlow in Philadelphia’s East Market, needed a high-efficiency energy solution for a 245,000-square-foot residential tower with a glass-heavy facade. To meet strict energy-efficiency and LEED goals while helping secure city approvals, the company turned to Capstone Green Energy and its microturbine CHP technology, working with dealer E-Finity Distributed Generation.
Capstone Green Energy implemented two Capstone C65 Integrated Combined Heat and Power (ICHP) microturbines to provide electricity, domestic hot water, and pool heating for the property. The system is expected to reduce annual utility costs and CO2 emissions, and the project received a $53,933 CHP incentive from PECO. It also helped the development earn LEED Silver V3, and National Real Estate Development said it may use the technology in future projects with hot water demand.
