Mexico Departmental Store - Customer Case Study

Mexico Departmental Store, an upscale retailer in Nuevo León, Mexico, needed a reliable, low-emissions power source to support year-round cooling in a hot climate while also helping reduce operating costs and maintain operations during outages. Capstone Green Energy provided the microturbine-based solution, using natural-gas powered Capstone C65 microturbines in a combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) application.

Capstone Green Energy installed 20 C65 microturbines, a York absorption chiller, and integrated heat exchangers to deliver electricity, chilled water, and backup capability for the store. The system supplies about 40% of the site’s power demand, provides 1.3 MW of backup power, produces approximately 400 refrigeration tons of cooling, and has driven annual energy savings of more than 40% while helping the store meet strict emissions and noise requirements.
