Los Angeles Pierce College - Customer Case Study

Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California, needed a more efficient and cleaner way to meet part of its campus energy demands for heating, cooling, and electricity. Capstone Green Energy provided six Capstone ICHP microturbine systems to help serve those needs on site.

Capstone Green Energy’s solution uses hot water from the ICHPs to drive an absorption chiller for air conditioning, while also providing heating and onsite power. The system was installed alongside a 191 kW solar array and helped Los Angeles Pierce College earn the Los Angeles County College District the Green Cross Millennium Award in 2004, while reducing fuel use and emissions versus conventional utility power and boiler heat.
