A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
Leaf California, a premium cannabis cultivator in Sacramento, needed to more than double capacity at its indoor growing facility without waiting months or years for utility upgrades. Facing high electricity and water demands, the company turned to Capstone Green Energy for a combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) solution using natural gas microturbines.
Capstone Green Energy installed six C65 microturbines, a Capstone Logic Control system, and absorption chilling equipment to provide reliable on-site power, hot water, chilled water, and dehumidification support. The system helped Leaf California reduce energy costs by roughly $217,000 per year, improve power reliability and crop stability, and lower waste and emissions while creating a more efficient, closed-loop cultivation operation.
