Leading Q4C Oil and Gas Produce Company - Customer Case Study

Leading Q4C Oil and Gas Produce Company, operating the Wintershall Q4C platform in the North Sea, needed a highly reliable prime power solution for a manned offshore platform while also reducing fuel transport and heavy maintenance demands. Capstone Green Energy addressed this challenge with C65 microturbines and a Capstone Advanced Power Server (APS) to support continuous platform operations.

Capstone Green Energy installed four C65 microturbines running on conditioned wellhead gas, with two units providing 100–120 kW of continuous power and two serving as backup in a cycling arrangement. The solution delivered non-stop, reliable power while lowering costs through on-platform fuel use and minimal maintenance—just one annual filter change and routine inspections instead of frequent oil changes and oil handling associated with reciprocating engines.
