La.So.Le. EST - Customer Case Study

La.So.Le. EST, a leading Italian and European manufacturer of engineered wood flour and wood shavings, needed to improve the efficiency of its high-temperature wood flour drying process at its Percoto plant. The company’s challenge was to supply 300°C air for drying while reducing energy use and production costs, and it turned to Capstone Green Energy for a solution based on Capstone C600S microturbine technology.

Capstone Green Energy implemented a combined heat and power system using a natural gas-powered Capstone C600S microturbine, with turbine exhaust directly feeding the dryer’s burner system. This setup cut natural gas consumption, reduced grid electricity use, and improved overall process efficiency, delivering about €180,000 in annual savings, 180 tonnes of oil equivalent saved, and 544 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided.
