Forrajera 19 Hermanos - Customer Case Study

Forrajera 19 Hermanos, a 20-year-old livestock feed manufacturer in Tototlan, Jalisco, Mexico, was looking for an energy solution that could reduce operating costs while supporting its commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility. Working with Capstone Green Energy and its dealer DTC Ecoenergía, the company pursued an onsite combined heat and power (CHP) approach using microturbine technology.

Capstone Green Energy implemented a CHP system built around four C200R microturbines, installed in two stages and fueled by compressed natural gas. The system now covers 98% of the plant’s electricity consumption and 68% of its billable demand, cutting the electricity bill by 93% and saving more than $700,000 pesos ($32,200 USD) per month, plus about $170,000 pesos ($7,600 USD) monthly in fuel savings. The project is expected to deliver a payback of less than two years with an internal rate of return of 54%.
