Preview of the Food Manufacturing Company Case Study

Food Manufacturing Company - Customer Case Study

Food Manufacturing Company, a major dairy products manufacturer in Mexico, faced high energy costs at its large plant in Guadalajara, Jalisco. To improve efficiency and reduce utility purchases, it partnered with Capstone Green Energy and DTC Ecoenergía to evaluate an onsite cogeneration option that could offset a significant portion of its electricity demand.

Capstone Green Energy implemented a cogeneration system built around two Capstone C1000 Microturbines, along with waste-heat recovery and two World Energy Absorption Chillers. The system now covers 47% of the plant’s electricity use and 33% of its billable demand, while supplying 97% of its cold water needs; it generates about 1,710,960 kWh per month, delivers 1,614 kW, and is projected to save more than $1.7 million pesos per month with an ROI of less than three years.
