A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
Den Dulk Dairy, a large dairy operation in Ravenna, Michigan, needed a way to manage the methane-rich manure from its herd more sustainably while reducing waste storage and environmental impact. Capstone Green Energy provided a microturbine-based combined heat and power solution to help turn that manure into usable energy on site.
Capstone Green Energy installed a CR30 microturbine, which produces 30 kW of continuous electricity and 45 kW of thermal energy, alongside the farm’s digester system and additional CHP equipment. The solution uses methane from manure to generate clean power and recover heat for building and process needs, while cutting methane emissions that would otherwise be released or flared. The project delivered ultra-low emissions, reduced onsite manure storage, and converted waste gas into renewable energy with reliable, low-maintenance operation.
