Charlotte Douglas International Airport - Customer Case Study

Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, purchased two EcoSaver IV Hybrid Electric Vehicle buses from DesignLine USA to help cut fuel consumption and lower emissions. The airport’s challenge was keeping its bus fleet running efficiently, especially during fuel shortages after Hurricane Ike.

Capstone Green Energy’s microturbines aboard the buses powered battery charging and were able to run on jet fuel when diesel was scarce, helping the airport keep its buses operating in a pinch. As a result, Charlotte Douglas International Airport was very pleased with the buses’ performance, and Capstone Green Energy delivered a flexible, cleaner power solution with clear operational value.
