Breuil Cervinia District - Customer Case Study

Breuil Cervinia District, the municipality behind the Breuil-Cervinia ski resort in Italy, faced unreliable electric supply in harsh mountain conditions along with the need to improve heating efficiency and reduce emissions. Capstone Green Energy helped address this challenge with a natural-gas-powered dual mode C1000S microturbine for the district heating plant.

Capstone Green Energy installed the C1000S microturbine in a CHP application to provide reliable electricity and steam while supporting the hot water district heating network at 2,000 meters above sea level. The system is designed for low emissions and minimal maintenance, and the project became the first dual mode C1000S application of its kind in Europe. According to the case study, the installation delivered a 50% reduction in utility costs and is performing as expected.
