Bopisa, a plastics manufacturer in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, was looking for a clean, efficient energy solution to replace its existing generators, improve reliability, and reduce rising operating costs. After evaluating options, the company worked with Capstone Green Energy and its distributor DTC Ecoenergía to assess a site solution that would better support its manufacturing operation, including electrical power and water conditioning.

Capstone Green Energy implemented a 600kW Capstone C600 microturbine system with grid-connect capability and an absorption chiller for combined heat and power. The system now supplies over 59% of the plant’s electricity, helps avoid a 27% demand charge expense, and has cut Bopisa’s energy costs by 58%, saving about $350,000 per year.
