A&P Fresh Market - Customer Case Study

A&P Fresh Market in Mount Kisco, New York, wanted a way to support its supermarket operations with more efficient energy use while reducing dependence on the electrical grid. Capstone Green Energy was involved through UTC Power’s PureComfort® Model 240M solution, which combined onsite generation with cooling and heating for the store.

Capstone Green Energy’s solution used four Capstone C60 MicroTurbines® and a double-effect absorption chiller/heater from Carrier to provide cooling, heating, and power in one system. The microturbine exhaust was reused to drive the chiller, helping the system achieve an overall fuel utilization rate of more than 80%, compared with about 33% for a typical central power plant, while also lowering emissions and energy costs.
