A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
A. Obenauf GmbH & Co. KG, a German cardboard manufacturer in Bad Harzburg, needed a replacement for its conventional burner that could deliver consistently high temperatures for its paper drying process. The company evaluated several options, but many systems could not provide the right heat profile required for its production lines, so it turned to Capstone Green Energy and its microturbine technology.
Capstone Green Energy installed four natural gas C65 MicroTurbines in a combined heat and power (CHP) application, supplying both thermal energy and electricity to the plant. The system provides 600 kW of thermal power for drying and 250 kW of electricity, while offering reliable operation, ultra-low emissions, and minimal maintenance; the recovered exhaust heat also helps the plant heat its factory when production lines are not running.
