United Sikhs wins coast-to-coast coverage with Caplan

United Sikhs faced a challenge when a wave of commercial driver's license (CDL) enforcement actions in California threatened the livelihoods of thousands of immigrant truck drivers. The policy, framed as a safety measure, instead created ambiguity and inconsistent application by state DMVs, leading to a breakdown in due process. Caplan Communications partnered with the organization to address this civil rights and workforce issue.

Caplan Communications built the Freedom Drivers platform to document the policy's impact and executed an earned-media strategy to reposition the drivers as essential workers harmed by a systemic failure. The campaign successfully shifted the narrative, generating coast-to-coast media coverage that prompted scrutiny of enforcement practices and established United Sikhs as a leading voice on civil rights.
