Western Union International Bank, a Vienna-based bank supporting The Western Union Company's strategy, needed to establish and expand its pan-European banking operations. Their challenge was to define a business strategy, select a stable and scalable core banking system to meet complex requirements, and implement it across multiple countries. They engaged the vendor Capgemini for this project.
Capgemini supported the bank through a dual-phased approach, first helping to evaluate and select the FLEXCUBE core banking package from i-flex. In the second phase, Capgemini planned and executed the system's implementation and rollout to all branches in Austria, Germany, and Norway within six months. The solution provided the bank with the necessary core banking infrastructure, including critical interfaces to existing systems, ensuring a stable platform for its European expansion.
