Vendex KBB IT Services, the technology provider for the largest non-food retailer in the Netherlands, faced a challenge in increasing the productivity and predictability of its Microsoft .NET-based software development environment. Capgemini implemented a pilot project using the beta version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System, tailoring it with the Rational Unified Process (RUP). The solution delivered substantial improvements, reducing the time for a proof of concept from an estimated 50 days to just 29 days. The Capgemini solution provided a more predictable development lifecycle, supported the company's drive for CMM accreditation, and integrated team collaboration tools for better workflow and return on investment.
