Transforming National Gas’ in-house development capabilities with a scalable, flexible Microsoft Azure cloud environment

Major National Gas needed to complete a greenfield cloud migration quickly while giving developers and data scientists secure access to a new cloud environment. To meet tight divestiture deadlines and avoid the complexity of traditional laptops, the company partnered with Capgemini and used Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) as part of a new Microsoft Azure cloud setup.

Capgemini designed and automated the environment using Terraform, DevOps pipelines, and Microsoft Intune, creating single-session AVDs with strong security controls and near zero-touch provisioning. The solution scaled from a few hundred desktops to more than 4,000 users, reduced costs and operational complexity, and gave Major National Gas a flexible platform that continues to support future growth and innovation.
