A large North American communications service provider (CSP) was facing high operational costs and complexity from maintaining five separate regional billing systems. To gain efficiencies and improve its competitive position, the CSP engaged Capgemini to consolidate these systems. Capgemini was tasked with reverse-engineering 32 million lines of legacy code to define the business requirements for a new, consolidated billing platform.

Capgemini used its Communication Transformation Platform assets and a two-part process involving Business Rules Extraction and data migration. The solution successfully converted over 7 million customer records and rationalized thousands of products and interfaces. This consolidation, performed by Capgemini, resulted in significant operational cost savings for the CSP, allowing them to reduce expenses and reallocate savings towards further business development.
