A Capgemini Case Study
The European Space Agency (ESA) needed a better way to track greenhouse gas emissions, since traditional local inventories were inconsistent, slow to update, and often lacked the accuracy and resolution needed for policy decisions. Working with Capgemini as part of the World Emission consortium, ESA aimed to use satellite data to improve emissions monitoring at a global scale.
Capgemini implemented the cloud orchestration and service architecture needed to integrate scientific algorithm workflows and data from multiple sources into a unified platform. The result was the open-access World Emission portal, which gives users worldwide timely satellite-based data for CO2, NOx, and CH4, improving visibility into emissions and enabling updates in months rather than years.
