TDC Group, a leading Danish telecom operator, faced the challenge of preventing international roaming fraud. The significant delay in receiving roaming usage data created a vulnerability that fraudsters could exploit. Partnering with technology vendor Capgemini, TDC sought to implement a Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE) solution well ahead of the industry deadline to protect its network and establish itself as a preferred roaming partner.

Capgemini implemented an inbound NRTRDE solution using a Comptel mediation platform and Oracle database. Leveraging its outsourced mediation team and Rightshore® delivery model, Capgemini developed and deployed the solution in just one month, a full year ahead of schedule. The results were significant, with zero errors in over six months of live operation. The solution is estimated to reduce TDC's fraud losses by up to 75%, absolve them of liability, and attract more roaming traffic and revenue by enhancing their reputation.
