Syndicat des Transports d’Île-de-France - Customer Case Study

Syndicat des Transports d’Île-de-France (STIF), the operator of the Paris region's public transport network, faced a challenge in managing and leveraging the enormous increase in electronic data after it decided to digitize its entire ticketing system. The organization needed to analyze this data to improve services for its 12 million inhabitants. STIF approached vendor Capgemini to build a specialized information system using its Business Information Management (BIM) expertise.

Capgemini, in collaboration with IBM and Teradata, built a solution using Cognos software for analysis and planning. This system unified vast volumes of data from transport operators, enabling STIF to accurately analyze passenger journeys, set pricing policies, monitor service quality, and make strategic infrastructure decisions. The results provided STIF with precise passenger data, leading to better decision-making for new contracts and bus lanes, a better experience for users, and ensured the non-profit delivered greater public value.
