Stedin Meetbedrijf, a Dutch energy utility, faced the challenge of automating and scaling its operations to manage a government-mandated rollout of smart meters to over two million customers. To prepare for this massive increase in volume and improve process efficiency, the company partnered with vendor Capgemini to implement a solution built on Oracle Business Process Management software and Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Capgemini deployed the Oracle-based solution, which simplified work order management through automation and straight-through processing. The result provided Stedin with greatly increased efficiency, better transparency into the rollout's progress, and improved response times for deployment. The project was delivered on time and within budget, fully preparing the utility for the national smart meter initiative and earning Capgemini and Stedin an invitation to present their success at Oracle OpenWorld.
