Södra Cell - Customer Case Study

Södra Cell, a major Swedish pulp supplier, faced a challenge in sharing information seamlessly with its customers, who wanted better access to market data, fixed-price purchasing, and improved logistics and IT services. To address this, they partnered with vendor Capgemini to develop an innovative IT solution.

Capgemini implemented a customer portal called PulpServices Online, developed using Microsoft .NET technology. This solution enabled Supplier Managed Inventory (SMI), allowing Södra Cell to manage customer stock and facilitating a rapid exchange of logistical data. The results were significant: customers can reduce capital tied up in stock by up to a million euros annually and cut administrative time by hundreds of hours per mill. The project also won a Microsoft award for best integrated e-business solution and greatly strengthened Södra Cell's customer relationships.
