A Capgemini Case Study
SNCF Réseau, responsible for managing France's rail network, sought to modernize its maintenance operations. Their challenge was to move beyond aging systems to better predict maintenance needs and ensure the safe, undisturbed operation of its 30,000 km of tracks. To address this, they collaborated with Capgemini on a surveillance and supervision program, aiming to leverage digital technology for improved responsiveness and cost optimization.
Capgemini developed a new system called Supervision Nouvelle Génération (Supervision NG), which centralized field data to provide real-time monitoring and visualization of the rail network. This solution included a mobile application for engineers, enabling faster response to maintenance requests and more effective task distribution. For SNCF Réseau, the results included improved anticipation of breakdowns, reduced emergency maintenance, optimized operational costs, and enhanced communication with passengers about service disruptions.
