A Capgemini Case Study
Slovenská Sporiteľňa a.s. (SLSP), Slovakia's largest bank, faced the significant challenge of preparing for the country's transition to the Euro currency in 2009. To ensure a smooth changeover that would maintain its market leadership and mitigate complex fiscal and reputational risks, the bank enlisted Capgemini for its program management and business transformation expertise.
Capgemini divided the 24-month program into 12 projects, providing comprehensive support in areas including business coordination, IT systems conversion, and contingency planning. The vendor managed 21 different suppliers and executed a meticulous 108-hour final conversion, successfully transitioning the bank's entire network of 300 branches and 600 ATMs. As a result, Slovenská Sporiteľňa achieved a seamless Euro changeover that was delivered on time and exceeded expectations, securing the sustainability of its services for both private and corporate clients.
