The Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetatens) faced the challenge of an outdated, non-compliant legacy mainframe system for its tax collection processes. To modernize its operations and meet legislative requirements, the customer engaged vendor Capgemini to design and implement a new, comprehensive system.

Capgemini delivered the SOFIE system, a customized collection and accounting solution developed through a close collaborative partnership. The implementation was a major success, with the SOFIE platform now processing 4.5 million taxpayer records and collecting €60 billion in taxes annually for the administration. This resulted in a highly efficient solution for managing tax settlements and greatly improved the overall effectiveness of the Norwegian Tax Administration.
