RPA improves Ibaraki Prefecture’s administrative support

Ibaraki Prefectural Office faced growing pressure to deliver faster, higher-quality public services to about 2.8 million citizens with limited resources, while managing increasingly complex administrative work. To modernize operations, the prefecture partnered with Capgemini and selected UiPath robotic process automation (RPA) to improve productivity and streamline data entry across its existing systems.

Capgemini implemented UiPath within the prefecture’s customized environment, focusing on automating paper-based data and information input processes and supporting a collaborative new way of working. The solution was deployed across 20 administration, education, and police operations, reducing processing time by 35,000 hours per year and shortening application handling by 10 minutes each during a COVID-19 support program that served about 12,000 businesses.
