Rheinenergie Leverages Process Mining To Outline Future Transformation

RheinEnergie AG, a German energy and utilities provider, was pursuing its digital procurement transformation and needed better visibility into the performance of its Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process. The company wanted to continuously monitor process performance, reduce manual work and deviations, and improve cross-departmental collaboration between procurement and finance, so it partnered with Capgemini Invent and used process mining to address the challenge.

Capgemini Invent implemented a process mining solution using Celonis EMS, connected it to RheinEnergie’s ERP data, and built custom dashboards and a digital twin of the P2P process for end-to-end transparency. The project identified key inefficiencies and optimization measures, improved collaboration, and created a business case for about €350,000 in savings after one year and roughly €2 million after five years.
