Case Study: ReShare achieves more sustainable fashion resale with Capgemini’s Circle AI solution

A Capgemini Case Study

Preview of the ReShare Case Study

ReShare, part of The Salvation Army, makes fashion retail more sustainable with AI

ReShare, part of The Salvation Army, needed a faster, more accurate way to process, identify, and price second-hand clothing for resale while reducing waste and supporting sustainable fashion retail. Manual review required specialized knowledge and limited who could perform the work, creating inefficiencies and the risk of human error. Capgemini helped ReShare address this with its Applied Innovation Exchange Lille and the Circle solution.

Capgemini implemented an AI-based, Intel RealSense-enabled system that lets employees scan and photograph garments to automatically assess quality, generate product pages, and recommend fair prices. The result is a quicker, more consistent sorting process that reduces the need for brand expertise, enables more employees and volunteers to participate, and helps ReShare maximize reuse instead of disposal. Capgemini and ReShare also see potential to scale the solution to more stores and sorting centers, with machine learning expected to keep improving accuracy over time.
