A Capgemini Case Study
The Administration of the Port of Lisbon, a major European port, faced the challenge of aging IT infrastructure and sought to improve the flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of its data center. Partnering with Capgemini, the port initiated a project to move away from physical servers by deploying a server virtualization platform.
Capgemini implemented a server virtualization solution that consolidated 31 physical servers into three high-performance units. This deployment resulted in a 90% reduction in physical servers, a 54% reduction in required capacity, and a 76% reduction in data center space, significantly lowering energy consumption and achieving nearly 100% system availability.
