Case Study: Petrom achieves a centralized Finance and IT transformation with Capgemini

A Capgemini Case Study

Preview of the Petrom Case Study

Petrom - Customer Case Study

The Romanian oil and gas group Petrom, following its acquisition by OMV, faced the immense challenge of integrating and transforming its large, decentralized public company operations to meet international standards. To address this, the company collaborated with vendor Capgemini on a post-acquisition strategy for Finance and IT transformation, which included process centralization and SAP implementation.

The solution implemented by Capgemini involved a multi-phase program with over 100 initiatives, including the parallel execution of fundamental fixes and the creation of a centralized Service Center in Bucharest. This large-scale effort involved relocating and training over 1,000 employees, harmonizing processes, and upgrading the entire IT infrastructure. The results included substantially increased closing speed and reliability, the successful establishment of the largest Service Center in South-East Europe, and critical progress towards Petrom's vision of becoming a leading regional company.
