Case Study: Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency achieves a future-ready digital theory test with Capgemini

A Capgemini Case Study

Making a theory test that is fit for the future

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the UK government agency responsible for road safety and driving tests, needed to modernize its theory test for today’s digitally native customers. The long-standing process still required candidates to visit test centres, making it less convenient and less cost-effective, so DVSA turned to Capgemini and its Applied Innovation Exchange (AIE) to explore a secure digital alternative.

Capgemini and the AIE ran a six-week innovation sprint to rapidly ideate, develop, and deliver a proof of concept using AI, voice recognition, and key-stroke analysis. The prototype showed how learners could take the theory test remotely in a secure and valid way, improving the user experience and giving DVSA confidence in a realistic roadmap to a digital future.
