Lånekassen, the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, faced a challenge with its outdated 1980s mainframe system, which could not support its goals to automate student application processes or adapt to changing business rules. To modernize its IT infrastructure and improve services, Lånekassen engaged vendor Capgemini to implement a new Microsoft-based case management solution.

Capgemini delivered a flexible solution utilizing technologies like BizTalk Server and the InRule engine, which automated processes and allowed for easy updates to business rules. This significantly increased online self-service for customers and reduced manual operations for Lånekassen, greatly enhancing efficiency. The project's success, achieved through close collaboration, led to Capgemini being entrusted with developing a subsequent loan management system on the same platform.
