A Capgemini Case Study
Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa S.A. (KIR), a key infrastructure institution for the Polish banking sector, faced the challenge of meeting modern customer demands for instantaneous financial services. They needed to develop a real-time payment system that would allow funds to be transferred between banks within seconds, available 24/7. To achieve this, KIR partnered with vendor Capgemini to implement the Express ELIXIR service.
Capgemini developed and implemented the end-to-end Express ELIXIR real-time payment system, overcoming tight deadlines and high safety compliance demands. The solution was launched successfully in 2012, initially connecting three banks. The measurable results were significant, with a six-fold increase in transfer volume and a nine-fold growth in transaction value within the second six months of operation. The system provided new business opportunities for banks, won an award for "The Best Innovation for Banking," and successfully met the market's demand for instant payments.
