A Capgemini Case Study
Kalmar County Council, a healthcare authority in Sweden, sought to become a world-class user of IT in healthcare. Their challenge was to establish a base for future IT systems to provide cost-effective services and enable the secure sharing of digital medical records under the vision of "one patient—one medical case-book." They partnered with vendor Capgemini to develop a new IT strategy.
Capgemini implemented a solution based on a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), which included IBM servers, an Oracle database, and the Cambio COSMIC healthcare package. This provided the council with a flexible, future-proof platform for healthcare administration. The results included significant cost savings, more efficient use of resources, and reduced administrative burdens for staff, allowing citizens to have secure and easier access to their medical records.
