Home Office completes one of the UK Government’s largest cloud transformation projects

The UK Home Office, the lead government department for the country's security, faced a significant challenge as its existing hosting platform lacked the scalability and stability required for its digital transformation agenda. To support its critical immigration services, it selected the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform and partnered with vendor Capgemini to manage a complex migration of its vast, mission-critical infrastructure.

Capgemini provided a team of AWS specialists and engineers to execute the migration while ensuring business continuity. The solution dramatically improved performance and efficiency, reducing build times from days to hours and cutting incident resolution times from 480 to 90 minutes. The new platform also yielded substantial cost savings, including £100,000 annually from using native AWS security services. The successful migration was completed without business disruption and enabled the Home Office to handle significantly higher transaction volumes.
